Please join us for the 2021 MTA Bargaining Summit being held virtually on Saturday, February 27 from 9 a.m. to noon. Register today!
Previous MTA Bargaining Summits have helped MTA locals across the state transform their negotiations and win strong contracts through democratized bargaining practices. MTA locals are maximizing member involvement through open bargaining strategies and asserting their collective power through Contract Action Teams and multi-union coalitions. Together with education stakeholders in our schools, colleges and communities, we are also organizing alliances and broadening the scope of our bargaining aspirations through Bargaining for the Common Good.
This year’s Bargaining Summit will be unlike any other, and it will move us to the next level in building our bargaining power and union strength. We will explore the exciting possibilities of coordinated bargaining as we strategize about how to act in solidarity with other MTA members and education stakeholders to shift the balance of power and win on the issues important to us, our students and our communities.
The summit will feature inspiring stories from MTA members and educators from other states who have been trailblazing coordinated bargaining efforts. You will hear stories from MTA teachers and Education Support Professionals who have joined forces to support each other’s bargaining goals, higher education locals that are working together to gain power in negotiations, and union members from other states who have used regional and statewide standards to win on their issues.
Interactive working sessions will follow. We will discuss our shared issues, concerns and aspirations, and explore our next steps to ally with one another to maximize our bargaining power and win positive change.
Who can attend? All MTA members are welcome to attend. We encourage participation from bargaining teams and contract action teams from the same local. This summit is for all MTA bargaining units, prekindergarten through higher education, no matter where you are in the bargaining cycle.
We look forward to seeing you there!
